Set up number ranges

UNENO hands out numbers in sequence — for your customers and for your apps’ documents. The number ranges set what those numbers look like: C-0001 for customers, for example, or INV-2026-0001 for invoices.

In your app, click Settings → General. Below the general card is the Number ranges card.

Each row shows the Series, its Next number — the prefix, suffix and digits are visible in it —, the Last issued number and, under Starts over, a label when the series starts again every year or month.

Which rows you see depends on your active apps:

RowWhere it comes from
CustomersYour workspace — always there.
Quotes, Invoices, Cancellation invoicesUNENO Invoice — only if you’ve activated the app.

If you later activate another app with numbers of its own, its rows are added here. The screenshot shows a workspace with UNENO Invoice.

  1. Click the series’ name — or Edit in the row’s ⋮ menu.

  2. Adjust the fields — at the top of the window you see straight away what the next number will look like.

  3. Click Save changes. You see Number range updated.

FieldWhat to enter
PrefixOptional, before the number — for example C- or INV-. Letters, digits and dashes, up to 20 characters. {YYYY}, {YY} and {MM} insert the year or month: INV-{YYYY}- gives INV-2026-0001.
Minimum digits *Pads shorter numbers with zeros: 4 gives 0001.
SuffixOptional, after the number — for example -DE. The same rules as the prefix.
Starting number *Where counting starts. It must be higher than the last issued number — unless you change the prefix or suffix.
Start againNever — keep counting, Every year or Every month. With a restart, the first number of a new year or month starts again at the starting number — for example INV-2027-0001.
  • A restart needs the period in the prefix or suffix — for Every year the year ({YYYY} or {YY}), for Every month the year and the month ({MM}). Otherwise numbers would repeat; if something is missing, a message under Start again tells you what.
  • The starting number can’t go down to numbers already issued. If you change the prefix or suffix instead, a new format begins; you can then use Restart numbering for the new format to start again at the starting number — or keep counting.
  • Invoices and cancellation invoices shouldn’t share the same format, because every invoice number must be unique. If both have the same prefix and suffix, the card warns you in amber at the top. That’s why cancellation invoices carry the prefix ST-.
