Roles at a glance
A role is a set of permissions — for example “may view and create invoices, but not cancel them”. Each member has exactly one role. Instead of giving every member rights one by one, you create a few roles — “Staff” or “Bookkeeping”, say — and assign them.
Open the page
Section titled “Open the page”In your app, under System, click Members & Roles → Roles & Permissions.
The list shows the roles you can give to members:
- Role — click the name to open the role for editing.
- Permissions — how many boxes the role has ticked.
- Members — who has the role (hover over the initials to see the name); — when nobody has it yet.
- ⋮ — Edit and Delete.
What about the owner?
Section titled “What about the owner?”- The owner always has every permission — including those that new features bring later. They don’t need a role from this list for it.
- That right belongs to them alone. That’s why it isn’t on the list: other members can’t get it, and it can’t be changed or deleted.
So a new workspace has no role yet. The page then shows No roles yet. — create the first one for your team:
How it all fits together
Section titled “How it all fits together”- Changing a role affects every member who has it.
- To give one member different rights, change their role.
- The sidebar adapts: a member only sees the areas they have View for.
