Units of measure — readable on the PDF, standard in the e-invoice.
Ten units are ready when you start. Name them the way your customers should read them, add your own from 28 standard units — and the e-invoice gets the matching UN/ECE code automatically.
- Ten units from day one — piece, hour, day, month and more
- Your own units, built on 28 UN/ECE standard units
- The standard code in every e-invoice — automatically
A name for the PDF, a code for the e-invoice.
Your customer reads the name you gave the unit. The e-invoice states it as a standard code that any accounting software understands.

The selection that matters for invoicing, from UN/ECE Recommendation 20 — checked against the European e-invoicing rules.
Your list, your rules.
Rename freely
Call “Piece” “pcs” if you like — the system units take any name, their standard code stays fixed.
Add your own
Week, dozen, kilowatt hour: give the unit a name and pick its standard unit from the 28.
One default
Pre-selected on every new line and every new product. Make another unit the default with one tick.
Protected from deletion
System units, the default unit and every unit a product still uses — the list shows how many.
Issued stays issued
Every issued document keeps the unit it was written with — changing your list never touches it.
Roles and log
Who may view, add, edit or delete units is up to the role; every change lands in the activity log.
The code travels along
Picked once, the unit’s code stays on the line — through drafts, quote → invoice, duplicates and recurring invoices. Renaming the unit later doesn’t change it.
In the document’s language
A standard unit prints in the document’s language — “Stunde” becomes “Hour” on an English invoice. A unit you named yourself prints as you wrote it.
One name, one unit
No two units share a name, and a name has up to 50 characters — so the right unit is always the one picked.
Questions about units of measure
Short answers to what people ask us most.
What is a UN/ECE code, and why does my invoice need one?
E-invoices (ZUGFeRD, XRechnung, Factur-X) state every unit as a code from UN/ECE Recommendation 20 — HUR for an hour, H87 for a piece — so the buyer’s software reads it without guessing. In UNENO every unit carries such a code; you only ever see the name.
Can I create my own unit?
Yes. Give it a name and choose its standard unit from 28 — from dozen and pair to cubic metre, hectare and kilowatt hour. Codes outside this selection can’t be added.
Can I rename “Piece” to “pcs”?
Yes. The system units can be renamed; their standard code stays fixed. Documents you have already issued keep the unit they were issued with — and drafts, quotes and recurring invoices keep the right e-invoice code, because it was fixed when the unit was picked.
Do units appear in the document’s language?
The standard ones do: a unit that still has its standard name prints in the document’s language — “Stunde” on a German invoice, “Hour” on an English one. A unit you named or renamed yourself prints exactly as you wrote it.
Are there abbreviations such as “hrs”?
There is no separate abbreviation — the name is what prints on the document. If you prefer it short, simply name the unit “hrs”.
Why can’t I delete a unit?
Three kinds are protected: the system units (rename them instead), the default unit (make another one the default first) and any unit a product still uses — the list shows how many, and once they are reassigned the unit can go.
Which unit is pre-selected on a new line?
Your default unit — “Piece” to start with. Picking a product fills in its own unit instead, and you can change the unit on every line.
Who may change units?
That is up to the role: viewing, adding, editing and deleting units are separate permissions, and every change is recorded in the activity log.
Do units cost extra?
No. Units of measure are part of every plan — so is the UN/ECE code in the e-invoice.
