E-invoicing in France — Factur-X with every mention.

For a company established in France, UNENO Invoice issues invoices to French business customers as Factur-X: the PDF your customer reads, with the invoice data inside — every new mention included, checked against the French rules. For self-employed people, micro-companies and SMEs.

  • Factur-X (EN 16931) for your French business customers
  • Both SIRENs, the operation category and the payment mentions — in the file
  • Sending through a certified platform (PA): in preparation
How it works

Your Factur-X in three steps.

No XML know-how, no extra module — the invoice you already write becomes the Factur-X.

  1. 01

    Switch it on once

One setting for your whole workspace — for companies established in France. From then on, every invoice to a French business customer is issued as Factur-X; everyone else keeps getting a plain PDF.

  2. 02

    Write the invoice as usual

Customer, line items, done — with your customer’s SIREN on file. Before the invoice gets its number, Invoice checks the file against the French rules and lists anything missing.

  3. 03

    Send or download it

The Factur-X goes out by email or as a download: a PDF your customer reads, with data their accounting software can process.

In the file

Every mention the reform asks for.

The Factur-X carries the French mentions as data, not only in print — the fields a platform and your customer’s software read.

  • Both SIRENs

Yours, and your customer’s — mandatory between French companies.

  • The electronic address

Between French companies, the customer’s SIREN also serves as their address for e-invoices.

  • Goods, services or both

The category of the operation, from your setting — printed and coded in the file.

  • VAT on debits

If you opted to pay VAT on debits, the invoice says so and the file carries it.

  • The payment mentions

Early-payment discount, late-payment penalties and the €40 recovery fee — on the invoice and as notes in the file.

  • EN 16931

The European standard behind the reform — Factur-X is one of its base formats.

Checked at issue

Checked against the French rules.

Before the invoice gets its number, Invoice checks the Factur-X against the French rules (BR-FR) — and lists everything missing, with where to add it.

  • Your SIREN and your French business customer’s — both required
  • A French VAT number must end with its SIREN — a mismatch is caught
  • Nothing goes out until it passes: the draft stays editable, no number is used
  • The format is fixed when the invoice is issued — switching e-invoicing off later changes nothing

The law

The French reform, in short.

Invoices between French companies move to certified platforms in two steps.

  1. Since 1 Sep 2026

Every company must be able to receive

Through a certified platform of its choice. Large and mid-sized companies must also send through one.

  2. From 1 Sep 2027

    SMEs and micro-companies must send

From then on, invoices between French companies of every size go through certified platforms, with the new mentions.

Sales to private customers and sales abroad aren’t invoiced through this channel — their data is reported to the tax administration instead (e-reporting).

FAQ

Questions about e-invoicing in France

Short answers to what people ask us most.

Is a Factur-X sent by email an e-invoice under the reform?

Not yet in the reform’s sense: once your obligation starts, invoices between French companies travel through certified platforms. The Factur-X from Invoice already has the format and every mention the reform asks for — sending it through a certified platform is in preparation. Until your sending obligation starts, a Factur-X by email is a complete invoice.

Who must send e-invoices in France, and from when?

Large and mid-sized companies since 1 Sep 2026; small and medium-sized companies and micro-companies from 1 Sep 2027. Every company must be able to receive them since 1 Sep 2026.

Which companies does UNENO Invoice serve in France?

Self-employed people, micro-companies and small and medium-sized companies — the companies whose sending obligation comes in the reform’s second step.

What is a certified platform (PA)?

A plateforme agréée, registered by the French tax administration. Each company chooses its own; the platforms exchange the invoices with each other and pass the required data to the administration. The connection of UNENO Invoice to a certified platform is in preparation.

Can I receive e-invoices with UNENO?

Receiving goes through the certified platform you choose — UNENO Invoice is for issuing. Reading and processing incoming invoices in UNENO is coming with the Expenses app.

Why does Invoice ask for my customer’s SIREN?

The reform makes the buyer’s SIREN a mandatory mention between French companies, and it serves as their address for e-invoices. Invoice checks it before issuing a Factur-X to a French business customer — and that a French VAT number ends with it.

Do private customers and customers abroad get a Factur-X?

No — they keep getting a plain PDF invoice. Their sales aren’t invoiced through the platforms; the reform covers them with e-reporting.

Does e-invoicing cost extra?

No. It is included in every plan of Invoice — no add-on, no surcharge.
